What our residents say

Picture of a resident

"I can't imagine living anywhere else that enables me to be so independent."
Anita White

The Belong Village is here to help people with dementia to remain part of the community in which they feel a sense of belonging.

This is achieved through providing a person-centred, bespoke and flexible portfolio of services that can respond to the needs of the person with dementia in a way that will maintain and enhance their life style and well being.

As with all our of care services, the provision of specialist support for people with dementia is informed by the Belong values together with the latest developments in research and best practice in dementia care.

Key Features

We recognise that many factors influence the course of and experience of dementia, not least the influence of our staff on the well being and individual autonomy on the Person with dementia.

  • All forms of behaviour are viewed as a response by the Person with dementia which is meaningful in terms of having internal and external influences. Belong staff respond by seeking to understand and work with it.
  • Choice is built into every aspect of the Person with dementia's life within the Village.
  • The needs of all residents and members of the Belong community are regarded as paramount and therefore they form the key focus of the care and support provided.
  • Belong managers and staff share a clear and positive vision for care, based on the Belong brand values and on understanding the needs of people with dementia.
  • Support staff understand the needs of the Person with dementia and adopt a flexible response in their efforts to meet those needs.
  • Persons with dementia are recognised as requiring a variety of activity, social interaction and relaxation throughout the day, thus providing a satisfying life style.
  • The Person with dementia feels safe, secure and comforted that there are care and support staff who understand and can reassure them at times of distress.
  • Life plans and activities are tailored to meet the needs of the individual. This results in a range of therapeutic interventions both on a one to one and small group basis.
  • Activities and other interventions are integrated into the individual's daily life plan to ensure that the Person with dementia is occupied in ways that are meaningful to them.
  • Members of staff interact positively and engage in meaningfully activities with the Person with dementia.
  • Care and support staff endeavour to spend time listening to and interpreting the needs of the Person with dementia.
  • Relatives and carers are encouraged to be involved and to participate in all aspects of life with the specialist supported households to create an environment that best supports the need of the Person with dementia.
