Staff members from Belong Crewe, including Fitness Instructor, Nathan Harrison, and Head Chef, Mathew Capper, have been training in the exercise studio with residents from the village, preparing for the Three Peaks Challenge. Funds raised by the sponsored event, which involves climbing the three highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland, will be used to expand the range of activities offered this year at Belong Crewe for older people and people living with dementia and their families in the local area.
Staff from Belong Crewe will be joined on the peaks by a team from nearby Barclays Bank, who have pledged to match every penny raised for the care village. The team from Barclays comprises Transition Manager, Calvin Haughton, Client Service Executive, Andy Outram, and Client Service Executive, Sam Kania.
Nathan Harrison, 30, and Mathew Capper, 25, along with Experience Coordinator Lee Edwards, 30, and Caretaker Carl Whittaker, 37, from Belong Crewe, have spent the past month working out in the village. They've been put through their paces by exercise enthusiasts Margaret Cooper, Doreen Barnett and Ray Knott, who use the studios regularly to keep fit and wanted to help whip the Three Peaks team into shape.
Doreen Barnett, who lives in Patriot House, said: "They're trying to climb mountains in three countries in 24 hours, they'll need all the practice that they can get. Exercising regularly has had a great effect on my everyday life but I don't think I'll be joining them on the peaks this year!"
Belong Crewe General Manager, Melanie Saywell, said: "We're very proud of the work that our team have been doing to prepare for their climb and wish them the best of luck. Any money raised will go towards putting on new events in and around Belong Crewe in the coming year for people in the local community and the residents living here, so it's all for a good cause."

The Three Peaks team have a JustGiving page online where donations can be pledged: https://www.justgiving.com/Lee-Edwardsthreepeaks.
