Belong has achieved the coveted accoldate of Gold Investor in People (IiP) status, placing the organisation in the top 13% of over 10,000 organisations assessed by IiP.
Although Belong has held IiP status as part of the CLS Group, this was the first time for the brand to be assessed independently and also the first time for it to pitch against the Gold standard.
Phil Orton, Head of People for Belong, said: "We were absolutely delighted to secure Gold at our first attempt. The assessment took place over two weeks and our assessor found that we weren't just meeting the standards, but we were showing excellence and truly investing in our people from the heart."
Winning performance
The assessor identified a number of strengths indicating that Belong is a good employer and a great place to work - and that it recruits the right people with a passion for care, who find their work very fulfilling.
People believe that Belong has created a positive ethos and customer-focused operation at all levels. The assessor also commented on Belong as a values-based organisation where staff could articulate the Belong values, and live out an ethos of being respected, doing the right thing, going the extra mile and being a family. She found that people believe Belong is genuinely concerned for their health and wellbeing and is committed to equality and diversity.
Evidence was also found of how staff are encouraged to contribute ideas to improve performance and quality. They also have autonomy to experiment and help to improve their jobs and how they are carried out.
Getting better all the time
The assessment also identified areas where Belong can make further improvements, and an action plan is being developed to take these forward.
Phil Orton adds: "As a brand that is committed to driving continuous improvement and innovation, we are really keen to learn from this feedback and make changes that ensure we continue to excel at all that we do."
Areas which are being examined include rewards, consistency across villages when it comes to management and a more formal approach to talent management.
