Here at Belong we recognise that each human being is unique and as such we offer a range of accommodation, care and support options that will meet different choices and levels of need.

Our aspiration is to bring the care to the person avoiding the need for a change in accommodation where possible. For some people this may mean help with personal care and safety. For others it will be social support and reassurance to prevent loneliness, boredom and isolation that living alone can sometimes mean. All residents will receive care and support under the guidance of a General Practitioner and Nurse member of the Primary Health Care team.

'Home like' domestic environment

24 hr specialist care in Belong Village's small households provide people with a familiar 'home like' domestic environment where ordinary household functions are performed at home, e.g. gardening, cooking, cleaning, eating and entertaining. These activities of daily living are regarded as important to maintaining and regaining the Person's skills and abilities.

Safety

Technology is sensitively provided to ensure that each person can be afforded maximum privacy by minimising unnecessary intrusion whilst at the same time improving personal safety and minimising risk. Flexible and structured support is available for relatives and carers.The involvement of relatives and carers as partners in supporting the Person is actively encouraged as part of the 'shared care' philosophy.

Friendship & Community

A network of 'Friends' of the Belong Village contribute to promoting and ensuring quality standards within the Belong community and help People to maintain contact with the past (people and places) and create opportunities to make new friends and continue existing hobbies/interests as well as developing new ones.
