Residents at Belong Macclesfield, enjoyed an afternoon of festive entertainment, with a special Christmas carol concert performed by the Prestbury Church of England Primary School choir.
The local school pupils treated the audience to a selection of well-rehearsed traditional Christmas carols and songs and Belong residents enjoyed getting into the Christmas spirit by singing along to their favourite tunes.
Gina Moorjani, Belong Macclesfield Experience Coordinator, said: “The school pupils delivered another fabulous Christmas concert at the village this year! Residents loved the performance and it was great to see the two generations getting on so well. Everyone had a wonderful time at the first of our Christmas celebrations; it was a very memorable afternoon indeed.”
Listening to familiar music was not only an enjoyable experience but also acted as a form of reminiscence therapy, proven to be particularly beneficial for people living with dementia, stimulating cognitive ability as well as being therapeutic.
Residents invited the school children and their parents to join them for a seasonal lunch at the village, at which they enjoyed sharing Christmas stories and memories.
