Charitable care provider, Belong, is once again in the national spotlight as a finalist in three categories of the prestigious 3rdSector Care Awards, distinguished for initiatives in the area of Compassion, Innovation and Community Engagement.
Belong is on the shortlist for the Leading Change, Adding Value Award for Compassion, evident through the significant impact its exceptional dementia training programme has had upon the lives of those it supports; ranging from maximising customer independence to providing high quality end of life care. Belong’s strong person-centred culture is reflected in its consistently positive customer feedback and its ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ village ratings from the Care Quality Commission.
The not-for-profit organisation has also been shortlisted for the Innovative Quality Outcomes Award. Belong has ben recognised for its innovative approach to helping customers stay active and healthy, through its specialist, personalised exercise programmes and the implementation of state-of-the-art SilverFit equipment, which uses gaming and virtual reality to engage older people in exercise for longer.
Belong’s extensive links to the wider area have also been recognised in the Community Engagement category, including its involvement with the ‘Connected Communities’ scheme in Crewe. Since joining in 2017, the care operator has organised and hosted a variety of different functions of benefit to both its customers and the local community, a standout even being Cheshire’s first Silver Pride.
News of the shortlistings has been welcomed by Belong Chief Executive, Tracey Stakes. She commented: “Community engagement, innovation and compassion are all key pillars of Belong’s approach to achieving the highest quality of care for our customers; so to be recognised for this is very rewarding.”
