Belong has been shortlisted in the prestigious 2018 LaingBuisson Awards for its advanced approach to dementia care that is helping customers live the lives they choose.
Belong has been shortlisted in the Innovation in Care category, in which nominees must demonstrate an excellent and innovative provision of care in any setting. The not-for-profit organisation has been recognised for its pioneering practice across its seven care villages, including the implementation of digital care records and start-of-the-art SilverFit exercise equipment, which uses gaming and virtual reality to engage customers in exercise for longer. Furthermore, Belong takes an innovative approach to its class-leading staff development programmes, incorporating road shows and providing specialist dementia training for the entire workforce.
The care operator’s latest unique care village, situated in Newcastle-under-Lyme, has also been shortlisted in the property category. Specialist healthcare contractor, Prime, has been acknowledged for its work restoring the 17th century building at the project’s heart and transforming it into the ‘Belong Heritage Gallery’. The village is the first of its kind in the UK, including heritages spaces, such as a reminiscence lounge, Samuel Bell’s Tea Room and a recreation of the Old Pomona Inn, which used to stand on site.
The LaingBuisson Awards celebrates individuals and organisations that demonstrate excellent services in the private, public and third sectors.
Tracey Stakes, Chief Executive of Belong, said: “We are constantly looking for new ways to improve the Belong experience and so to be recognised as an innovator in the care sector is a real privilege.”
The LaingBuisson Awards 2018 take place on 15th November at the Westminster Bridge Park Plaza in London. For more information, please contact: 01905 362120
