Julie Cross - Lead Support Worker

Why did you decide to take up a job in the care sector?

I studied social care at school. I always knew I wanted to help people, and I’ve always really enjoyed working with people of the older generations. You can learn a lot by talking to our customers!

What do you enjoy most about this job?

I really enjoy making a difference for the residents we care for and making them happy and comfortable. I try to make as many residents as possible smile every day at Belong Atherton. That’s job satisfaction for me.

What are the most challenging aspect of this job?

Every day is different, so there are new challenges every day. My daily tasks revolve around both the care of residents and staffing issues, such as organising rotas and keeping up-to-date with training.

What do you think makes working for Belong unique?

The staff go above and beyond to care for residents. They really are the best in the industry at what they do. It’s exactly what I’d hope for if I were being cared for, and it makes working here very rewarding.

What’s your favourite way to relax after long day (or night) at work?

I like going home, putting my feet up and catching-up with the soaps on television with my three children.
