Belong and Ready Generations welcome BBC’s The One Show

February 29th proved to be an extra special leap year as Belong Chester opened its doors to BBC’s The One Show and actress and presenter, Tillie Amartey, who paid the village and The Nursery in Belong a visit to meet the team, find out more about intergenerational living and see it all in action.

Kicking off the day was a chat with the village management team, and nursery operators, Ready Generations, before taking part in a music session with the village’s choir, the Sankofa Songsters, led by Live the Beat.

Lunch in the bistro provided the perfect opportunity to speak with residents, tenants and the nursery children to get their take on life living together under the same roof.

After dining came a video chat with University of Northumbria’s Dr Kay Heslop who provided insight into the nursery’s academic research element, before Tillie braved the chilly seasonal weather for a pramble alongside the city’s canal.

Later, it was the upcycling repair workshop, followed by little Ashleigh’s fourth birthday party with her friends of all ages coming together for a disco and games to celebrate their leapling friend’s special day.
