From Belong Wigan to Blackpool Tower

14/12/2012

Blackpool Tower was the backdrop for residents of community village, Belong Wigan, to enjoy a special Christmas day out recently, as they dined, danced, and even made time for a spot of sightseeing at the popular beachside resort of Blackpool. They enjoyed a lavish three course Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, before taking part in a game of cash bingo and a quiz.
Some residents of the village even braved the winter cold to take a stroll along the famous promenade before visiting Blackpool Tower to pose for a picture. Residents later enjoyed an evening of dancing, and joined hands around the dinner table for a reminiscent rendition of ‘Auld Lang Syne’.
Residents John and Betty Joughin, originally from Liverpool, said: “We had a wonderful day out, and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting with friends at the Norbreck Hotel. It was a lovely meal with great entertainment to match.”
Activity Facilitator at Belong Wigan, Claire Culshaw, was delighted to see the residents enjoying their day out. She said: “It was a lovely day enjoyed by all. The residents spent the day singing, dancing, and socialising with older people from across the North West, which they really enjoyed. It’s great to see the whole community getting in the Christmas spirit, and clearly everyone enjoyed the party!”
