Active lifestyle

It is our aim that moving to Belong is the start of a new lease of life and we work hard to promote every opportunity for people to find enjoyment and purpose in every day.
Our starting point for this is to build our knowledge and understanding of every customer so that we can make their days as fulfilling as possible. This includes enabling people to maintain previous interests or occupations, such as gardening, baking, dancing, writing or golf and to try something new, whether that be ceramics, opera singing or bingo!

The stuff that dreams are made of

We recognise that many people have lifelong dreams waiting to be fulfilled or places that are dear to their heart that they’d love to revisit, and we do our best to work with customers and their families to make these things happen.

We’ve supported residents to ride a horse, take a spin in a sports car, go swimming attend rugby matches and visit football stadiums. We accompanied one home care customer to the Isle of Wight to be able to visit his wife’s grave and supported an apartment tenant to ride Europe’s longest Zipwire!

Our exercise team regularly work with customers to regain mobility, often with a certain goal in mind. One previously wheelchair-bound resident was determined to be able to walk her daughter down the aisle on her wedding day and another achieved her dream of getting back on her feet to be able to ballroom dance on her 100th birthday.

The right environment

Given the right environment, people thrive and blossom, and our villages are designed to enable this. The village bistro, for example, creates a vibrant hub where residents meet and mix with local people. This intertwining with the wider community enhances and underlines Belong’s commitment to providing the same richness of experiences that residents have known throughout their lives.

Vibrant events programme

Every Belong village has a vibrant programme of events, activities, opportunities and opportunities, which are promoted in a bi-monthly What’s On publication.

These include walks, talks, concerts, parties, cinema evenings, dance classes, seasonal celebrations, flower arranging, exercise sessions, afternoon tea sessions, breakfast clubs, cheese and wine evenings, indoors bowls, arts and craft sessions and more. Just like any other family, we celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions. We encourage residents, if they wish, to get involved in everything from craft sessions making greetings cards, to helping decide on and organise events.
