Work has got underway to transform the old brewery site on Loushers Lane into a state-of-the-art Belong village. The village, which will be known as Belong Warrington, will provide a range of facilities for the local community, as well as specialist nursing and dementia care in private households and 18 stylish independent living apartments for older people.
The official start on site was marked by a turf-cutting ceremony as Nick Dykes, Chief Executive of CLS Care Services, and, Gill Boston, Chair of the CLS Group Board rolled up their sleeves and braved the cold to cut the turf at the £9.5 million development.
The village, which will be open to the public from summer 2014, will create over 100 jobs in the area, as well as providing a wide range of specialist care services and facilities for both residents and members of the local community to enjoy. The village centre will include a bistro, hair and beauty salon, exercise studio and function rooms, hosting a wide range of events and activities.
Nick Dykes was delighted to lead the ceremony and said: “Belong villages are not only designed to provide exceptional housing and care for their residents, they also provide a valuable resource at the heart of the community, offering members of the local community a range of facilities, activities, domiciliary care and day care.”
Belong is recognised as a leader in dementia care and is highly regarded for its award winning village model that combines specialist care with choice, independence and an active lifestyle. Warrington will be the fifth village to open in the North West, following in the footsteps of sites in Macclesfield, Crewe, Wigan and Atherton.
