Belong Wigan care worker shines at National Care Awards

Sophie Walls, 25, who lives in Abram, Wigan, has won an award at the National Care Awards 2013, for her work as Lead Senior Support Worker at Belong Wigan.
Winning the Excellence in Resident Handling Award, Sophie was presented her award by cricketing celebrity, Phil Tufnell, and Sky Sports News presenter, Olivia Godfrey, at a lavish ceremony in the London Metropole Hilton Hotel. It was the 15th year of the National Care Awards, organised by Caring Times magazine.
Judges at the award said of Sophie: "We have chosen her because of her passion and commitment to inspire her colleagues and the residents in safe, secure, dignified moving and handling. Particular outstanding features included her ability to empathise with residents in their own care planning for moving."
Tracy Paine, Operations Director at Belong, said: "Maintaining the dignity and independence of our customers is always a priority at Belong, so we are delighted that Sophie has been recognised for her hard work and dedication in this area. Talented staff like Sophie help to create a real sense of community at Belong Wigan."
