Two care support workers have been appointed at Belong Warrington, to support the village’s increasingly popular Experience Days, our unique alternative to conventional day care that that helps members of the local community to take part in the varied activities and vibrant village facilities on offer at Belong Warrington. Lauren Moran, from Warrington, and Michelle Baker, from Runcorn, have both joined the village Experience Day team.
Lauren, 24, who joined Belong Warrington last year as a Support Worker on the Forshaw household, now also works in an additional capacity as an Experience Day Support Worker alongside Experience Coordinator, Lisa McLaughlin, giving customers the support that they need to participate in village activities, such as sensory art workshops, balcony garden competitions and charity fundraising.
Lauren said of her new role: "The great thing about being a part of the Experience Days service is that it gives me an opportunity to unleash my creativity when planning activities and events. Working regularly with the same people, I have a chance to help them build new friendships and pursue their interests. Experience Days offer reassurance to carers as well, who know that their loved ones will be cared for in a safe environment."
Michelle, 32, previously worked in home care for a traditional care provider, and joined Belong Warrington this year as an Experience Day Support Worker. As well as helping people to participate in activities, Michelle will also assist customers who wish to access village facilities, such as visiting the salon for a new haircut or just meeting friends in the village venue.
Michelle said: "Coming from a background in home care, I was overwhelmed when I found out about the flexibility and personalised nature of Belong Experience days. I love the atmosphere in Belong Warrington, it feels like a privilege to be supporting people in the local community through our work."
Janine Curwell, General Manager at Belong Warrington, said: “We're thrilled that there has been so much demand for the activities being held in Belong Warrington. I'm certain that Lauren and Michelle will be able to help more people in the local community to enjoy some of the support, respect and richness of experience that we offer in our village."
