This year’s Belong Warrington summer fayre was a season highlight for all those involved, including members of the public, as well as Belong customers, staff, and friends and relatives alike; raising additional funds for activities at the village on Loushers Lane.
Blessed with good weather, the event included an outdoor bouncy castle and hook-a-duck which kept children well entertained. Inside the village, the 1st Warrington Brownies ran a tombola, while handmade gifts by the 9th Warrington (St Elphin’s) Guides’ were on sale, and the village held its own raffle, with an excellent selection of prizes.
The Body Shop and a host of local Warrington stallholders, including Lindsey Axford’s Treats For Me and Lynsey Witts’ Tia Jade Designs, also took part, offering a fabulous selection of handmade jewellery, crafts, soaps and cosmetics, all of which proved popular with visitors.
Lisa McLaughlin, Experience Coordinator at Belong Warrington, commented: “Events such as these play a key part in the vibrant community that Belong provides, and it was great to welcome so many people on the day. I know everyone here had a great time and we’re already looking forward to the next one.”
87-year-old Belong Warrington resident, Marion Roberts, added: “It’s always lovely to have the village so full and buzzing with life. There was a great atmosphere and I got chatting to lots of new people. My children and granddaughter, Amy, also came along, and Amy ran a cake stall that was very popular, so we were all delighted.”
The money raised by the event will go towards the purchase of various sensory equipment items to further develop Belong’s activities programme, which is specifically tailored for people living with dementia.
