Dozens of customers from Belong Crewe descended on a popular town club on Wednesday to shake and jive their afternoon away.
Village residents were joined by Belong “Experience Day” customers, as well as regulars of the popular Crosville Club – a long standing working men’s club in Chester Street – where they were treated to some sounds from the swinging 60s and 70s, as well as a few modern hits.
The group spent hours dancing the day away, and reminisced about times gone by before taking part in a few traditional games of bingo.
Lee Edwards, Experience Co-ordinator at Belong Crewe, said: “We only discovered these days when one of our colleagues from the Belong at Home team started taking one of our residents for an afternoon out. They thought it would be a great opportunity to take other people along and get involved in the activities.
The Experience Days have been a great way to help people feel part of the local community, or for Belong customers to get to see old friends, some of who they haven’t seen for years, as well as getting to make new friends. Many of our residents and customers have strong connections in Crewe and have probably attended an event at the Crosville Club at some point in their past.”
The Experience Days at the club have proved popular with Belong residents and customers, and are now proving a hit with the wider Crewe community.
One of those who enjoyed the day out was Maurice Hackling, a former regular of the Crossville Club from his time working as a chief buyer at Rolls Royce.
He said: “We used to come here every Saturday night from Rolls Royce so it is great to come back and be able to do the stuff we used to do. Since I started coming here again I have even managed to meet up with some friends that I’d lost touch with years ago.”
Belong holds regular Experience Days; the activity-based days, which take place in a village community centre or a community venue outside the village, are an excellent opportunity for residents and customers to mingle and meet new friends as well as get involved with the wider community.
