Music and memories played a key part in Chanukah celebrations for residents at Belong Morris Feinmann.

Musical acts featured prominently, with musical duo ‘The Farley Brothers’ guaranteeing a sing-along and dancing to ‘The Rat Pack’ and traditional Jewish songs. Musical group ‘Roundhay’ performed on the fourth day, and Judy Kellner’s ‘piano adventures’ took residents on a musical journey as she performed a classical piano recital and spoke about each composition.

The Chanukah party on the third day of the festival, which was open to all of the community, was another highlight, with Belong Morris Feinmann Rabbi, and guest speaker, Rabbi Ellituv, recalling memories of life in Israel, prior to his move to the UK, before lighting the third candle on the Chanukah. There were also special screenings of films, including the firm family favourite, ‘Fiddler on the Roof’, plus Shabbat dinner and a special coffee morning.

The festivities concluded with the North Cheshire Jewish Primary School choir performing for residents, and a surprise performance from Belong Morris Feinmann’s ladies’ choir, also known as the ‘Spath Road Singers’, which raised the roof and some resounding cheers!

Barbara Jacques, a resident at Belong Morris Feinmann and a member of the Spath Road Singers, said: “It’s been a wonderful series of events and activities. I love music, so I really enjoyed the various performances. There was a real sense of community, and it was lovely to see family.”
