Snowdon was no match for a team of fundraisers from Belong Atherton, who courageously battled to the top of the highest mountain in England and Wales to raise money for vital portable sensory equipment for those in full-time care.
The adventurers took the Pyg walking route to the 3560 ft summit, a 7-mile round trek which takes a total of 6 hours, and managed to raise £1159.56 on the way. The money raised will support the village’s valuable ‘Vecta Deluxe’ equipment, a portable sensory experience unit specially designed for those who require full-time care.
Gemma Willetts, experience coordinator for Belong Atherton, said: “I’m extremely proud of everyone who braved Snowdon to raise funds for our special equipment, which I’m delighted to say has now been ordered. The ‘Vecta Deluxe’ equipment, which includes a bubble column, projector, and fibre optics, will be used for group sessions with our residents to enhance stimulation and create a relaxed atmosphere across the village, such as in the rooms of those receiving end of life care.”
