This week (19 – 25 May) marks Dementia Action Week, the national campaign raising awareness of the importance of an early diagnosis for people affected by dementia.
Spearheaded by Alzheimer's’ Society, the charity estimates 1 in 3 people currently living with dementia do not have a diagnosis. However, 91% of those with a diagnosis agree it is beneficial to have one, giving them vital access to the care treatment and support they need.
To promote the campaign, Belong villages are holding dedicated open days for the public to visit for tours, meet the team and access information and specialist dementia support at no cost.
Whether for oneself, a partner, or parent who has a diagnosis, or those who might be in need of one, simply pop into the nearest Belong village for an offer of a helping hand.
Also available at the open days are breakfast clubs, games, live entertainment, intergenerational stay and plays, choir singing and namaste treatments.*
