Chester’s Belong at Home Contends for Top Carers Crown

Belong at Home, Chester’s care team, is vying to be named the north’s outstanding home care provider of the year at the Stars of Social Care Awards 2026, for its exceptional work supporting older people to enjoy later life and live as independently as possible.

June 12th will see the team make its way from its City Road base at Belong Chester care village to contend for the win at a glitzy gala in central London, hosted by ITV This Morning’s Josie Gibson, with results decided by a panel of industry judges.

Heather Mills, team leader at Belong at Home Chester, said: “We are super excited just to be named as finalists for the awards. Our work really is more than job; we are proud to assist our customers in their day-to-day lives, as well as put together fun experiences, provide meaningful occupation, and give them the opportunity to meet new people.”

The home care service has gone from strength to strength since its official opening over 18 months ago, with a highly experienced team operating in and around Chester city centre, its fringes, and parts of rural Cheshire, having expanded at the start of the year to meet growing demand. The service is also open to apartment tenants residing at Belong Chester.

Holding a dementia specialism, the core of its remit includes domestic duties, personal care, and running errands, whilst carers also support customers to maintain their interests and get out and about in the community, including birdwatching, Chester Zoo visits, or enjoying a stroll with an ice cream alongside the River Dee. For a small charge, customers can also make use of Belong Chester’s village facilities including its bistro, specialist gym, and salon, as well as join in with its vibrant events programme.

Belong at Home Chester has already achieved recognition with a finalist placement for Home Care Team of the Year at the regional Great British Care Awards 2025. Meanwhile, top testimonies from its customers have propelled the Belong at Home group services operating throughout the region into the coveted homecare.co.uk Top 20 UK Home Care Group ranking.

Andy Shield, head of operations at Belong at Home, added: “This recognition is a real testament to the dedication, compassion, and hard work of our amazing Chester team, who really go above and beyond every single day to support our customers in living happy, independent lives in their homes.

“We’re looking forward to celebrating the awards with our inspiring industry colleagues from across the home care sector.”
