Sarah’s Culinary Flair Earns Chef of the Year Accolade

Sarah Scott scooped the Care Home Chef award at the North West regional Great British Care Awards for her flair in the kitchen at Belong Warrington.

The culinary expert impressed judges who heralded the cook for being ‘highly knowledgeable and committed to continuous learning to provide the best possible service to her clients’ whipping up dishes in the village’s community bistro.

Sarah spends each day preparing fresh and fortified, tasty meals specially for older people, with judges praising her ‘dedication, professionalism, and a strong sense of [team] collaboration’ in her work.

Also joining the celebration were the Loushers Lane care village’s Belong at Home colleagues, finalists for the Home Care Team Award for their work supporting older people to enjoy active later lives in a caring community.

Belong Warrington general manager, Barry Devine, said: “We are so proud of our team for their recognition at the Great British Care Awards, and are delighted to see their commitment and impact acknowledged in this way.”

The annual Great British Care Awards acknowledge those working in the care sector throughout the UK, with winners from November’s regional finals advancing to national awards in early 2026.

The news follows Belong’s recent win at the prestigious HealthInvestor Seniors Housing Awards 2025 having taken the title for Operator of the Year for its holistic approach to care, breaking the mould of the ‘traditional care home’ by promoting an active lifestyle for customers.
