Belong Villages Reaccredited for ‘Gold Standard’ End-of-Life Care

Belong Warrington and Belong Newcastle-under-Lyme, have been awarded the Gold Standards Framework (GSF) Quality Hallmark Award for their exceptional standard of end-of-life care, with both villages achieving the prestigious Platinum rating.

Both villages achieved a perfect score in their reaccreditation. Belong Warrington was noted in the GSF report as having a “deeply embedded culture of compassion and respect”, and it commended the quality of dementia care as being a “particular strength”.

In Belong Newcastle-under-Lyme’s report, staff were praised for the high level of compassion and support they provide for residents and their families, especially in their final days. It noted how staff prioritise “comfort and dignity,” and always strive to ensure residents’ wishes are heard and acted upon, supporting them and their families in their final moments and beyond.

Commenting on the reports, Rebecca Woodcock, chief operating officer at Belong, said “We are delighted that two of our villages have once again been recognised for their outstanding quality of end-of-life care, and congratulate our colleagues for their tremendous work in building such a safe and caring community. This award indicates Belong as an operator that can offer support and comfort to residents and families at what is often a difficult time in their lives.”

A recent review on carehome.co.uk by the son of a resident at Belong Warrington remarked on his mother’s experience since entering the care village: “I can't begin to do justice to the difference... the change in her demeanour and awareness has been remarkable, and I believe that is a testament to an elevation in care standards and a drastic improvement to her environment since moving.”

Another review on carehome.co.uk by the daughter of a resident at Belong Newcastle-under-Lyme recounts her experience with her father’s end-of-life care: “In those final days, we felt completely held and supported. We genuinely felt we belonged there alongside Dad. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and the staff's compassion and proactive care continued right through Dad's last moments and beyond.”

Representatives from both villages received the reaccreditations at an awards ceremony in Birmingham on 22^nd September.

All Belong villages operate within the Gold Standards framework for end-of-life care, with seven villages currently accredited under the scheme. Belong Morris Feinmann in Didsbury, Manchester, is accredited under the NHS Six Steps Approach for Palliative Care.
